Spokane Trip: Snow! 2/2)

On our way back to Bellingham, we decided to take the less-traveled, meandering Highway 2, hoping for some snow. (We didn’t get much at home this year.)

We were not disappointed.

We got off at a rest stop to let the dogs out. My Audi 4000 Quattro is made to ignore snow as if it was mere dry pavement, but I think most people were worried that if they got off the highway, they wouldn’t be able to get back on. So the entire rest area was filled with several feet of virgin snow just for us, and a rare opportunity to let our dogs off the leash. After all, they’d been cooped up for four hours, and this was more snow than they’d ever seen in their lives:

The snow was the consistency of powdered sugar. It was the most fun I’ve ever had in snow, and I only got to play in it for like fifteen minutes. Waaahh!

The snow looks like it comes up to Hanzo's belly, but it was actually deeper if you weighed enough to sink farther and had less than four legs to distribute the weight. >:/

Hanzo explores the snow near our car and finds it to be both delicious and absorbent.
