When bounty hunter Toby "Two-Penny" Tuttle receives
a mysterious summons from her pa, hinting about a demon infestation
in Steam Canyon, she reluctantly stops chasing bank robbers and
heads west. There's a mysterious shadow following her, but when
Toby's long-lost twin brother finds her, he gives her something
worse to worry about: The biggest damn demon alive is trapped under
Madcat Mountain, and the construction of a new railroad tunnel is
about to bust him loose. Worst of all, there's no bounty on the
demon god... if she can, Toby will have to shoot this one down for
free.
Immortal Showdown is a fantasy/western complete at 134,000
words, but hopefully revisions will trim it to a reasonable size.
Click here for an 1,850 word excerpt from one of my favorite parts
of the book (warning: your grandma would wash my keyboard out with
soap). Or maybe you'd like to take a peek at some sketches from
A Guide to Redlands Wildlife:
And while Immortal Showdown does stand alone, as I was writing
the first book I got a magnificent idea for what could happen next.
I'm currently writing book two in a trilogy. Here are summaries
for Immortal Showdown's sequels.
Deviltar Swale
Toby and her partners have to hunt down the leftover demons
from that mess in the last book. Each time they kill one, the others
get stronger, but even that doesn't explain the sudden encounter
with an amazingly strong evil. With Toby's brother Otter acting
as a diplomat to the pissed off council in Hunt's Bay, and their
friend Boyd off on an embassy of his own, Toby has to join forces
with someone she never wanted to see again, and here's a hint: he
wears a white hat.
Calamity Cove
If Toby hadn't cleaned up all those demons, she might
not be in the mess she is now. Someone who wanted those demons for
his own has had to resort to summoning elder gods instead--and they're
ornery about getting woken up. Toby, Otter, and Boyd muster
defenses, but it will take the help of every god, man, and animal
they can find just to keep the menace at bay--let alone destroy
it.
